The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) is pleased to announce the appointment of our newest faculty member, Cong (Callie) Hao, and her appointment to the Sutterfield Family Early Career Professorship. Both of these appointments were effective on January 1.
The Sutterfield Family Early Career Professorship is funded annually by Meade (EE 1972) and Susan Sutterfield, so that the Georgia Tech School of ECE is better able to compete at the absolute highest level globally when attracting junior faculty members in general, and diverse faculty candidates in particular, providing an intentional pathway to build out the faculty that will lead ECE into the future.
Hao’s office is located in the Klaus Building, Room 2306, and she is a member of the Computer Systems and Software technical interest group and the VLSI Systems and Digital Design technical interest group.
Hao has spent the last year-and-a-half in Georgia Tech’s School of ECE as a postdoctoral fellow. She also worked as a postdoctoral researcher in ECE at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from 2018-2020. She received the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Waseda University in 2017, and the M.S. and B.S. degrees in Computer Science and Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Hao leads the Software/Hardware Co-design Lab, known as the Sharc Lab for short. Her main research interests are in the joint area of efficient hardware design and machine learning algorithms. Hao also works in reconfigurable and high-efficiency computing, and she builds useful electronic design automation tools. She is currently on the technical program committee for the IEEE Design Automation Conference (DAC), scheduled to be held in July 2022 in San Francisco, California.
