Salvador Palafox was born in Mexico City, Mexico. He attended college at Universidad Iberoamericana, obtaining a BsC degree in Industrial Engineering, with a minor in Electromechanical Engineering. Mr. Palafox then moved to the Headquarters of S&C Electric Company in Chicago, where he spent 37 years in several different assignments, leading the International Business Development group (Marketing, Sales, Engineering, and Operations) for more than 25 years. Most recently, he was responsible for the management and coordination of four Product Management and Product Development Teams in Chicago, Toronto, Aguascalientes (Mexico), and Suzhou (People’s Republic of China). Mr. Palafox acted as S&C’s Management Board Representative to the National Electric Energy Testing, Research, and Applications Center (NEETRAC) for three years. He became director of NEETRAC in April, 2020. Mr. Palafox has attended numerous post-graduate and management courses at MIT/Harvard, the University of Michigan, and other institutions. He is a former Member of the International Licensing Executives Society and is an Active Member of the Chicago Council of Foreign Affairs. Mr. Palafox is interested in music (particularly opera) and all sports. He plays golf, tennis, and soccer.

  • Management of applied research in the electromechanical field, particularly in those projects involving human-machine interactions
Distinctions: 
  • Participated in numerous panels and co-chaired events on Integration of Renewable Resources in T&D at the Electricity Association Seminar in New Zealand; Relay and Protection Seminars at the IEEE Seminars (Mexico Section) in Acapulco, Queretaro, and Cuernavaca; and Distribution Protection practices with CARILEC in Barbados, Aruba and Trinidad and Tobago.
  • Panelist at Distribution 2000 Seminar in Brisbane, Australia and IEEE seminars in Panama, Colombia, and Puerto Rico.
  • Member of the choirs at Our Lady of Ransom Church and Casa Italia in Chicago.
