ECE is a leader or primary participant in many different research centers. Many of the centers listed below are interdisciplinary in nature, covering topics such as electronics, energy delivery, communications systems, machine learning, and engineering education delivery. These centers offer many opportunities for corporate partnerships and for enhancing educational experiences for undergraduate and graduate students. Please note that each center is responsible for the maintenance of its own site.
A large number of ECE faculty members also participate in interdisciplinary research institutes that focus on areas such as robotics, national security, data engineering and science, and bioengineering and bioscience. The Arbutus Center for the Integration of Research and Education supports the Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP) Program, leads the VIP Consortium of 35+ universities, and is developing strategies for the systemic reform of higher education in all disciplines.

CABI
The Center for Advanced Brain Imaging (CABI) is a joint Georgia State University/Georgia Tech brain imaging center which includes a cutting-edge 3 Tesla MRI scanner, a mock scanner, equipment for concurrent or out of scanner EEG and physiologic data, and tools for performing cognitive tests and clinical assessments. CABI also leverages advanced neuroinformatics and cloud-based analytics tools for automated and large scale analytics.

Center for Energy & Geo Processing creates innovative research practices and entrepreneurship-based education in the area of digital signal processing, machine learning, and analytics with applications to subsurface imaging and energy problems. The center is a partnership between Georgia Tech and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) in Saudi Arabia.

COEUS
The Center for Cyber Operations Enquiry and Unconventional Sensing (COEUS) seeks to bring together faculty from different disciplines yet a common interest in computer security problems that are critical to our national security. The center has often been the place where leaders from the industry, government, and academia come together to address the security of emerging technologies critical to our nation. Currently, the center is comprised by a diverse set of faculty, researchers, students, and staff, who are all involved in research around the areas of attack attribution, cyber operations, wireless/mobile security, privacy, intrusion detection, systems security, applied cryptography, machine learning, and data mining.

The Tri-institutional Center for Translational Research in Neuroimaging and Data Science is focused on developing, applying and sharing advanced analytic approaches and neuroinformatics tools that leverage advanced brain imaging and omics data, with a goal of translating these approaches into biomarkers that can help address relevant areas of brain health and disease. This center is an effort among Georgia State University, Georgia Tech, and Emory University.
