Morris Cohen, assistant professor in the Georgia Institute of Technology’s School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, participated in a congressional briefing in Washington, D.C., concerning geoscience and its role in national security, on May 12, 2016. The briefing was sponsored by the American Geophysical Union, and by Congressmen Richard Hanna and Scott Peters. Dr. Cohen covered how research in Earth and space sciences advances new technologies and solutions to keep Americans safe. Cohen’s research intersects pure science funded by the National Science Foundation with application-driven innovations for federal agencies such as DARPA and the Navy. He was chosen to present to members of Congress and Washington policy makers for this event. His presentation can be viewed below starting at 13:15.
