Dr. Robert K. Feeney received the B.E.E., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1961, 1964, and 1970 respectively. He has served in the U.S. Army and worked for General Dynamics.
After joining the faculty in 1970, he did extensive measurements of electron-ion excitation and ionization cross sections by the crossed-beam method. . He also studied ion emission from aluminosilicate materials and high-field electron emission from solids. More recently, he has studied methods for the on-chip trimming of integrated circuits and techniques for the non-destructive measurement of transient photoconductivity.
Professor Feeney retains a long-standing interest in RF design, especially the application of CAD techniques to non-linear circuits and oscillators. He established the first modern RF course at Georgia Tech in 1978 and together with Dr. David Hertling teaches two undergraduate and two graduate courses related to RF. The resident RF curriculum is augmented with continuing education short courses taught at Georgia Tech and at industrial sites.
In addition to his teaching activities, Dr. Feeney serves as an RF consultant to a variety of nationally known companies.
