What We Do
The administrative staff supports the ECE Chair’s Office and the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The team is made up of Mimi Blacker, Eve Cuero, and Nisaa Buchanan.
The main office suite is located at 215-W, in the Van Leer Building, across from the Academic Office.
Each administrator handles varied responsibilities within the office, so feel free to review the descriptions below to assess and determine who to contact for your specific needs.

Meet the Team
Unit Administrative Officer & Assistant to the Chair
Mimi is originally from Lexington, Kentucky and has a bachelor's degree and master's degree from the University of Kentucky. She's worked in higher education since 1995 and moved to Atlanta in 2007. Much of her professional experience in education has been as an academic advisor. About 5 years ago she also started working with faculty and loves it! She came to ECE from the Office of the Dean in CoE where she was Program Support Coordinator and has also worked in International Education and the College of Computing at Tech. She has additional administration and advising experience working at the University of Kentucky, Georgia State University, New York University, and Hunter College.
Mimi provides administrative support to and management of the Chair’s office. Her main role is supporting faculty and Mimi will be highly involved with several faculty committees. This includes assisting with Reappointment, Promotion, and Tenure (RPT) reviews, as well as helping with nominations for internal and external awards for the School.
Mimi also manages calendars and requests for the Chair’s office, so please email her directly or include her in all request correspondences with the Chair.

Marketing and Event Coordinator
Nisaa was born and raised in Queens, New York. She began working at Georgia Tech in 2018 as a Tech Temp and moved into the position of Admin. Professional in the Chair's office where she assisted with RPT before being promoted in her current job as Marketing and Event Coordinator. She received her Associate’s degree in Business Management from Gwinnett Technical College. In 2022 Nisaa received ECE’s prestigious “Hats Off Performance Award.”
Nisaa supports the Chair’s office with events such as the Advisory Board, Staff and Faculty Meetings, Faculty Retreats, etc. She manages and coordinates many different events for the School, including the Roger P. Webb Award, ECE Family Day, ECE Holiday Party, new employee orientation, retirement parties, and many more. Nisaa also works closely with student organizations, including ECE Ambassadors, The Hive, Women in Electrical and Computer Engineering (WECE), and ECE Graduate Student Organization (GSO).

Program and Operations Manager
Eve Cuero grew up in Miami, Florida, and received her A.A. degree in Electrical Engineering from Miami Dade College in 2018. She was a member of the staff at the New World of Dance and Miami-Dade College from 2016-2018. She joined Georgia Tech in 2019 as a temp before starting fulltime as an Admin. Professional III, and was then promoted to Program & Operations Manager in 2022.
Eve handles the administrative responsibilities of the Chair’s office which include ordering office supplies for faculty and staff, business cards, and making room reservations for the Van Leer conference rooms. She also assists the Outreach Office with the ECE Tours.
