Biography
Cheryl Reid was born in Jamaica and immigrated to the United
States in 1984. In 2001 she graduated magna cum laude, from New Jersey Institute of
Technology (Newark, NJ) with a B.S.E.E.
As an undergraduate she completed four years of summer
internship at Lucent Technologies (Bell Laboratories). Her projects ranged from the
characterization of quantum well lasers to investigating the absorption and emission
spectrum of polymer lasers.
In the fall of 2001 she began her studies at Georgia
Institute of Technology. In the Spring of 2003 Cheryl completed her M.S.E.E. and
plans on entering the Phd program in the Fall of 2003. Cheryl’s current research
project involves the fabrication and characterization of photonic crystal
nanostructures.
