Biography

Payam Alipour received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering (Electronics) from the Sharif University of Technology (Tehran, Iran) in 2007. As a high school student, he received the silver medal in the National Physics Olympiad in 2002. In 2003, he ranked 10th on the mathematical and physical sciences branch of the National University Entrance Exam, and 2nd on the English language branch. He joined the Photonics Research Group in Spring 2008, where he has been a Ph.D. student since. He won the Spring 2008 Colonel Oscar P. Cleaver Award (Outstanding Graduate Student in ECE) for ranking 1st on the ECE Ph.D. Preliminary Exam. His research area is silicon nanophotonics.
