Biography
Dr. Adibi received his B.S.E.E. from Shiraz University (Shiraz,
Iran) in 1990. He moved to the United States in 1992, and received his
M.S.E.E. and Ph.D. from Georgia Institute of Technology (1994), and California
Institute of Technology (1999), respectively.
His Ph.D. research resulted in a breakthrough in persistent holographic
storage in photorefractive crystals. He worked as a postdoctoral scholar at
California Institute of Technology from 1999 to 2000 in the area of photonic
bandgap materials and devices.
Dr. Adibi came to Georgia Institute of Technology in 2000. He is currently
conducting research in the areas of nanophotonics, sensing, and medical imaging.
Despite his young career, he is already the author of one book, has two pending
patents, and has over 70 journal publications. He is also the recipient of several
awards from Georgia Tech, Caltech and various professional societies, including the
2004 Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) from the
White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
