
J. Scott Rodgers was born on December 25, 1971 in Richmond, Virginia. He attended high school in Nashville, Tennessee at Hume-Fogg Academic High School. He received his Bachelors of Science from Tennessee Technological University in 1994 (magna cum laude), and in 1996 he received his Masters of Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Currently he is working on his Ph.D. at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where his main efforts are concentrated on developing an all-optical threshold switch utlizing nonlinear materials. Applications for this switch are in the area of all-optical logic, optical A/D converters, and optical switching.
Scott is a member of IEEE/LEOS and was a recipient of the Georgia Institute of Technology President's Fellowship.
Scott is a World Class fencer. He is multi-time US National Champion, and is ranked in the top five in the world. He is currently training to compete in the 2000 Paralympic games in Sydney, Austrailia.
