GRITSlab: Robot Landing Platform Formation

The Khepera robots put on their hats to give their quadrotor friend a place to land. This is an extension on the algorithm shown in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=se318w2LXD0. The difference is that robots build moving formations, with a leader robot that acts independently. The followers use the same assignment and formation control algorithm to build and maintain formations with the leader. By making a tight box formation, the ground robots build a mobile landing platform that the quadrotor can land on.

Commencement speech

August 5, 2005 Dr. Gaylord at commencement

Thomas K. Gaylord
Regents' Professor and Julius Brown Chair Professor in ECE

Dr. Gaylord addressed nearly 1,000 graduates at Georgia Tech's 222nd commencement ceremony on Friday, August 5, 2005, at Alexander Memorial Coliseum. Last April, Dr. Gaylord received the Georgia Tech Class of 1934 Distinguished Professor Award. The prize, which includes the honor of delivering the summer commencement address, is the most prestigious award bestowed upon Tech faculty members. Dr. Gaylord's address illustrated four approaches to success:

  • You must think outside the box.
  • You must fail, but it is what you do following failure that counts.
  • You must collaborate; you can do together what you cannot do separately.
  • You cannot judge your own work.
