SURE-The Summer Undergraduate Research in Engineering/Science Program at Georgia Tech
Sponsored by the National Science Foundation, SURE is a 10-week summer research program designed to attract qualified minority students into graduate school in the fields of engineering and science. Approximately 30 students of at least junior-level undergraduate standing are recruited on a nationwide basis and paired with both a faculty and a graduate student mentor to undertake research projects at Georgia Tech in the College of Engineering, College of Sciences, Georgia Tech Lab for New Electronic Materials (NSF MRSEC), and the Microsystems Packaging Research Center.
At the conclusion of the program, students prepare both oral and written summaries of their research projects. The program has received highly favorable evaluations from past participants, and it is hoped that this unique experience will encourage these students to apply for graduate studies in science and engineering.
