Professor Taylor was born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He received his bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 1983. He did his graduate work at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, where he earned his master's and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering in 1985 and 1988, respectively. He has been with Georgia Tech since 1988, where his teaching and research activities have encompassed both the theory and application of control systems, with a particular emphasis on control of electromechanical systems such as robotic motion systems, electric machine systems and power electronic systems.
